WHAT DO YOU KNOW

A minimalist section this time. This Avro 504 at Shoreham ( see Lancing College chapel in the background)  is on a card with back text promoting the Gnat Aero Co ‘s 5 shilling pleasure flights.. This outfit was the first aviation venture of F G Miles, founder of the eponymous company.  Can anybody say if the figure by the nose is in fact Miles. ?  The Avro  G-E??X or Y appears not to be one those mentioned in the Shoreham history by Webb & Bird . Also the name “Jake” appears below the rear cockpit.
