AVIATION POSTCARD CLUB INTERNATIONAL
NEWSLETTER NO. 52
SEPTEMBER 2005
BACKWARD & FORWARD
Editorial impressions by Doug Bastin
As forecast the paper June
issue did not get out until July – even later than expected as, following
Royal Mail losing December, June got lost in cyberspace due to a computer fault
at the printer end. This issue has no
great theme but there is a topical Australian
touch to the return of Colin Cohen and elsewhere plus a piece on the interaction
of aviation on film and cards, together
with the usual features. The main picture is one of the surprisingly few cards
issued to promote aviation themed films and is from the 1969 Dixon
series of 32 for “The Battle of Britain” showing Merlin engined Hispano
Ha1112 Buchon Bf 109 derivatives as used
in the film.
For December, I am inviting member contributions on a different theme
– namely “where is the hobby going ?”, starting off with a few speculative
scenarios from myself in Club News. If the response is good enough I
will theme December/New year as a “Whither (Wither ?)
the Postcard” issue.
