Elsewhere
new issues are sparse but German airlines continue to buck the trend with sets
from Eurowings and Hamburg International.
Some slackening off in trade is usual over the summer but the best way
to make money still seems to be to
have a rare photographic South American Airport card. This one of Brasilia which
went for $90 + (£55) is equally likely to be among the rarest helicopter cards. It is
titled “Presidential helicopter” and shows a Bell 47J with a background of
a Super Constellation of REAL, later absorbed by VARIG.
Of more local interest, a UK
vendor put one of the Real Photographic Co cards up for £1 and it went all the
way to £145 in a, mainly US, feeding frenzy. From the information given, the
card of Imperial Short Calcutta G-AASJ, admittedly not often photographed, was
one of the matrix backed examples, and by its number, not issued until 1946.
