ARTICLE NO. 41

I was rather lucky  when I won an auction bid and obtained a nice airport card from Venezuela showing a Pan Am Boeing 707 taking off or landing and an Iberia old livery Boeing 747 taxiing along the apron. I also traded a rather nice card from a new collector in Singapore of Singapore airport showing an SIA Airbus A300 taking off with a Boeing 727 and old livery tail from MAS in the background. These are both great airport shots that I have added to my collection. As for new airline issue postcard, I received a nice set of cards from SriLankan Airlines with only one air shot in a large size card of their Airbus A340. Cyprus Airways sent me two different air shot cards of their Airbus A319 and A330 both in new liveries.

Cargolux Boeing 747 Freighters have three great new cards that I have been sent. Malaysian sent me an old card of their Boeing 747-400 together with a new shot card (both in flight). Another air shot was sent to me by Air Vallee an Italian internal airline, which is rather nice I am not sure what is the aircraft though? (Dornier Do328JET – Ed.) The best sending this month has been a new set from Norwegian Air Shuttle who now operates Boeing 737-300 with a red stripped nose. There is a head on shot which I think is quite unusual. Airbus has issued a number of new cards but they are not being sent out yet as I got a load of older cards with a few of the new series sent to me. One of which is the proto postcard of the new A380 being the first full double Decker airliner due to come into service in 2005. On the other hand a smaller aircraft is the proto A318 which is the baby of the series. Does you know how many there are of these in the series now.

The publishers have also continued with a stream of new issues such as Aero & Nautica from Portugal has a set of 16 cards, the Czeck Republic, Airport Brno has a set of 8 cards, OKC series to 712, Dexempo to 672, Air Hobby to 479, Postcard series has now 592 in their series. Quality Collection Canada has 9 cards to collect; Skyward Switzerland has 32 cards in their series. Villain Cards from France has 392 cards.

Next month there are two aviation meets and I hope to be able to report lots of new finds after these two events. In the meantime if anyone wishes to keep me informed of new issues, please contact me at the above address

 Till next time,                                                                       HAPPY COLLECTING
