AVIATION POSTCARD CLUB INTERNATIONAL
NEWSLETTER NO. 47
JUNE 2004
Too late to feature any topical cards
combining aviation and football, instead we feature connections between the
Olympic Games and aviation – apart from that Greek airline whose cards are
among the most common airline-issue cards ever produced – but even they have a
few less easily available. The cover shot
shows the Olympic Rings symbol on the side of Hindenburg for the 1936 Berlin
games – which started the trend of the games being a major propaganda and
media event. After featuring the long
lived C-130 Hercules last year, this time it is
the turn of almost equally enduring DH/HS/B.Ae/Raytheon 125 and variants in the centrefold.
PS I think I may have used the cover shot before but too late to find another vertical Olympic related card.
